Yarn Splurge

Yesterday Andy and I went on a drive up the North Shore of Lake Superior and stopped at Playing With Yarn in Knife River. It's a small, two story yarn shop with a great selection of yarns and is situated right on the lake. I have all the yarn I need, and projects that have been queued for years, so I certainly didn't need any yarn. In a moment of weakness, however, I purchased some sock yarn, two skeins of Elsebeth Lavold Angora, a skein of Rauma Finullgarn and a set of size 0 Skacel 2mm needles.

At least I have plans for it: the angora will be made into a very basic pair of mittens, the sock yarns I plan to make my first toe up socks with, and the Finullgarn, which I actually had gone up there to buy, will be for fair isle mittens with a snowflake pattern. I was also happy to get a new pair of size 0 needles as the minute bamboo ones I am currently using are all bent and cracking. I think now that I have these I will rip the red and white Frostrosen mittens I am working on and redo them with the new needles. They haven't seen any progress in months anyway. Even though I have other, larger projects to start, I think a few quick projects like these are just what I need to get back into knitting on a regular basis.
