Negative Progress and a Mysterious Intruder

So, I've been a delinquent knitter/blogger. To be honest, my interest has been waning lately, and the ripping I was forced to do on Sunday night didn't help. I'm still working on the Turtleneck Shrug which is currently two arms with the shoulder parts done. I had finished the turtleneck late Sunday night, only to try it on and find that the 7" shoulder thingies specified in the pattern are way too long on me making the fit awful. So, instead of resigning myself to wear it only as a scarf, I decided that the responsible thing to do would be to fix it because I am still clinging to the hope that it could be very cute if I can get it to fit properly.

And now for something completely different: Last night I was trying to go to sleep around midnight when I distinctly heard footsteps on my deck. I first assumed it must be my sister smoking, but she never came in. The footsteps continued and my mom and I were both up, calling my sister to see if it was indeed her, but it wasn't. By this time our imaginations were running wild with thoughts of someone trying to break in. We very cautiously crept over to the kitchen window, and peaked out only to see...a deer up on the deck, leaning over the side and tugging on our pine tree/shrub. How cute! I love northern Minnesota.

Happy Valentine's Day

Not my favorite holiday, but a good excuse to bake something cute nonetheless.

Turtleneck Shrug and Cuteness Incarnate

Since finishing my socks I have slowly but surely been working on the Turtleneck Shrug from ScarfStyle. I LOVE the yarn. I am using the yarn and color called for in the pattern. It's my first time using a Rowan yarn, and after the first ball with 4 knots in it I wasn't impressed, but now that I've wound the second ball with 0 knots I'm feeling considerably better about it. It is so soft, warm and cozy, and I adore the color.

Aside from that this project is yet more proof that I am incapable of knitting ribbing evenly - I can do cables, lace, whatever, but I just can't seem to get ribbing right. The yarn and pattern are so good, however, that I think I'll be able to look past the imperfections in my knitting.

And I don't think I even need to say anything about this picture, the cuteness speaks for itself. She was finally sitting still for a minute today so I snapped a few photos of her.
